This was my first use of my tastecard, after I looked through the available restaurants I saw this one had a good rating (4 stars) not sure where they (tastecard) got this rating from. Ignoring my scepticism for hotel restaurants, myself and my girlfriend went along. We were sat down in the corner by friendly serving staff, however couldn't help but feeling awkward and out of place due to atmosphere in the resturant and the rest of the diners who were all seating on their own.

When it came to ordering I had mushrooms in a blue cheese sauce, which came with an exciting garden side salad! The sauce tasted bland and mushrooms, well they were just mushrooms. My other half had pate which looked average.

For main I had the seafood platter a decision I instantly regretted after I saw my starter, regardless I tucked in to the assortment of salmon, some sort of chewy white fish in now forget and two types of prawns, all of which was completely inedible. Sitting across from me, there was a cottage pie, which was topped with pipped potatoes? Not much of shock but tasted like bisto she had confirmation of this once she bit into an actual cube.

All in all not worth it even with tastecard discount, all of the menu modeled on the brakes brochure. I won't be making the same mistake twice and trust me better nature. "

Booked in advance with no problem. Arrived, and the place was packed, but not with diners....it was full of people having high/afternoon tea. We were shown to a table at the back. Drinks and food orders were taken quickly, and everything arrived in good time. Food was very good. Portions were on the large size. All the steaks were cooked slightly more than requested, although not enough to stop the men from eating them LOL. Wine is reasonably priced. By end of meal, we were the only diners left. It might be better, if they didn't overlap afternoon meals with dinner. Prices were very good. And, using the tastecard made it exceptional value - around £60 for 2 courses for 4 people and 2 bottles of wine. Would definately recommend it. "
