I was introduced to Pause very recently and have re-visited on two further occasions. The food and service is very good. The only complaint I have is on the last visit the waitress dropped the prawn cocktail starter on my suit, making a stain on the jacket and trousers. They did apologise but only offered a wet towel to clean the stains. This obviously did not work and I had to take the suit to the cleaners. I mentioned this to the "head" lady that I was particularly upset that no great effort was made and the reply was that it was not her that spilled the food. End of story as far as they were concerned. This will not stop me going again but in future when the waitress says she will serve me, I will handled this myself. "

I heard about this place through a friend that regularly visits for lunches and after work fun times, so I thought I would join him.

The food was very very good, I really didn’t expect the quality from a city bar at the prices offered! Which was even better value with the tastecard. I had the pork belly with parsnip mash and tasty gravy with apple and baby onion. The staff were very attentive and recommended some great wine to go with it but I should have just gone for a bottle of it.

I also stayed to make the most out their happy hour and tried some great cocktails and was taken through a tour of the Rum selection by our bar tender, I forgot his name Max maybe?..Sorry! Great evening but I should have eaten more! I will be visiting again :-) "

This cosy Basement cocktail bar near the iconic Lloyds building in the city really took me by surprise. I was greeted so warmly when I went on Wednesday. I believe it was the manager who showed me to my table, which he straight away noticed that wobbled. He fixed it in a way that I kind of did not even notice. The rest of the staff was friendly and happy which was nice. I felt comfort while waiting for my guest. The bottle of white I ordered (house) was slightly under-chilled but he did say if I would not mind waiting several minute and he'll be over to pour when it’s ready. I assumed he was going to forget but he made sure that he walked over to the one of the waitress (who I later found out was Vida) and she was over to pour the wine and it was chilled. I was impressing. But when the food (Nasi Goreng for £6) arrived to our table at the right time, looked and tastes really good that’s when I decided that I will definitely come back. The manager seemed to know everyone including me (I have never seen him before). All in all was outstanding. I do apologies to pause team for forgetting to leave extra tip. I had such a good time I forgot. Keep up the good work.

I will be coming to dine again.

    Regards, Jaime "
