" We chose this restaurant to try through the tastecard website even though both of us have lived in Chelmsford for years and never previously thought to visit. We were absolutely delighted with what we found; the interior is cosy and charming, with lots of little nooks. The selection of food was extremely appetizing and the service was wonderful. Being someone who naturally nitpicks I really can't fault this place at all; the food was delicious and well portioned without being overbearing. The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and the service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. This is a new firm favourite with us, I would only warn about things to bang you’re head on and taking care down the very steep steps! Highly recommended.

"Had a great meal here last night. Didn't know what to expect but this is a fantastic hidden gem. Food was high quality and plentiful which when you think you're paying just £2.50 for a starter, is superb. The atmosphere was good, it was quite lively but not overly so. The waitress apologised at the end for the slow service as they were short staffed, but we thought the service was perfect - I hate getting rushed through my meal and shown the door as quickly as possible like in a lot of other restaurants. It was a perfectly paced and enjoyable meal.
Enjoyed a bottle of Gavi which was reasonably priced and was really quite nice.

"Somewhere that takes tastecard on a Saturday is a rare find, and this one is doubly good as the food was superb quality and accommodated my fussy tastes. The menu choice was also excellent. The service was attentive without being intrusive and the waitress was very informative, letting us know what events they had coming up etc. Had a fantastic bottle of wine to wash it all down. The restaurant had a lovely atmosphere, even though we dined fairly early so it wasn't packed. Without a doubt we will be going back again.
