One of London's best-kept secrets, Zengi is a cosy, family-run hideaway nestled between the city and Spitalfields, deep in the heart of Shoreditch.
Drawing inspiration from the Turkish dynasty that ruled parts of northern Iraq, eastern Turkey and Syria in the twelfth century, Zengi's menu is a carefully-curated journey across the Middle East and the Mediterranean, bringing together the best dishes from each region.
The chefs have created an enticing offer of mezze, mixed grills and classic 'soul' dishes, blending traditional family recipes with more adventurous, contemporary flavours. An eclectic mix of Ottoman art and the family's personal effects adorn the space, mirroring the diverse menu.
The restaurant is split across two floors, leading from street level with open-plan kitchen and buzzy atmosphere, down to the sunken 'den' with private booths in softly-lit alcoves; perfect for a quick bite at lunchtime or an intimate dinner with friends. Outdoor seating means guests can enjoy shisha all year round and during the summer months, guests can dine al fresco.
