Situated just off the market square on Trinity Street, 2648 Cambridge combines an extensive range of mouth-watering food with a brilliant level of service to provide patrons with a fantastic experience that is suitable for any budget. The venue screams vintage and is complete with gramophone, valve radios and a bar that is adorned with old vinyl records, taking customers back in time whilst tantalising their taste buds and leaving them thoroughly satisfied from head to toe. Take a look behind the bookshelf and behold their hall of fame!

Doing away with those pesky knives and forks, the majority of the bespoke dishes at 2648 Cambridge can be eaten by hand which really takes away much of the effort of dining out. Choose between a host of burgers and a platter full of sticky chicken wings coated in a variety of sauces, some finger-licking spare ribs and an old favourite, the hot dog. Customers will revel in the amazing variety of flavour that each and every dish has to offer and are guaranteed to come back for more. Big appetite? No problem! The Memphis Meat Mission provides the perfect challenge for those that put the definition in the word carnivore.

" Good food, annoying that burger/main comes with no sides so you have to order that on top so costs more. Good drinks selection, would be good if there was a list for non-alcoholic drinks but the staff were happy to mix up what we wanted. The atmosphere would be good when busy but there needs to be a door between the stairs and the bar as the curtain can get left open by delivery people and that makes the seating area very cold. "

" Found The Vault on the 'tastecard' website. We went there in the early afternoon, we liked the look of the place and the menu and so we made a reservation to eat at 5.30pm.
When we arrived the atmosphere was lively & convivial as a group of about 15 had come in off the street and were seated about the room on several tables.
There was 'discreet' music in the background. We were offered 'a la carte' & 'set menus, both of which had good choice and value for money.
We opted for the set menu which consisted of 2 courses for £7.95. The food was good quality, freshly cooked and tasty. The staff were courteous, helpful and efficient.
We loved it and will definitely go there again on one of our regular jaunts to Cambridge. "

" This is my first time using the tastecard so I had high expectation. The state card worked alright but the dining experience didn't turn out to meet my expectation. Upon arrival on Sunday evening at 7.30pm the restaurant was empty. The location was quite central in Cambridge. I followed a couple who went in. Not bad taste of decoration but I waited to be seated for more than five minutes.

Ordered food, got served. Presentation was only ok. I was definitely not impressed by the food, certainly not the steak. I asked for medium rare and it was cooked to what I wanted. The steak probably was not salted or marinated. The peppercorn sauce was whole peppercorn with the butter, which didn't taste nice. I actually preferred the chunky chips on the side more than the steak. The big mushroom was nicely cooked but again was not salted or peppered. The salad was small chopped lettuces with honey whole mustard dressing and some other dressing. The tomato was cooked without any dressing or taste apart from its own tomato taste.

So after I finished the dish, I again had to sit there for more than 15 minutes to get the empty plate taken away. The waitress was busy chatting with the couple and seating and taking order from another table.

So finally got the bill she was quite happy to take the tastecard details. "
