We visited here for a 2 course Sunday lunch, with 2 half pints of bitter the bill would have cost over £25 but thank heavens for the tastecard. At 2.00pm on a Sunday lunch time you expect more than just 4 people in, but not to worry, This pub seems to still try and live up to its 2009, best pub awards, for us there was no chance. Yes it’s a very old pub/building but is now in need of a make-over. Staff were friendly but the whole time we were there we could hear someone vacuuming upstairs, this wasn’t a relaxing atmosphere one bit. Our Sunday lunch was ok, good amount on large plates, and our desserts were awful..... Choc fudge cake with custard. The custard was made with water, looked and tasted awful. Perhaps we just chose the wrong day to visit but it has put us off for good. You really need to go to make your own mind up. But i can only comment on the Sunday lunch, not the main menu. "

The bell and bear hasn’t got the highest appeal when you look from outside but don’t judge the place from outside the food is exceptionally good and using your tastecard is great value for money! Would recommend you try soon as when other people go here might be hard to get a table. "
