My wife and I ate here last night and had a great experience. From first impression to the very end.
The decor, which looks a bit much on first glance, makes much more sense when you're immersed in it. The service was just the right mix of professional and polite while still being warm and friendly. The open kitchen added an extra dimension, being able to see the chefs working so cleanly and methodically meant our expectations were immediately raised.
We started with bread and starters of seared tuna carpaccio and octopus salad. The tuna dish was so good that I was mentally patting myself on the back for choosing it each time I took another taste. The octopus was similarly excellent - a meaty texture, seasoned perfectly with each and every ingredient prepared with care and respect.
The mains were just as good - we went for the riccotta and truffle ravioli and ribeye steak, both perfectly cooked. We washed this down with their draught beer (Freedom) as the wine list was eye-wateringly expensive.
We had to pass on dessert but did take a moment to inspect their extensive collection of whiskies before heading out as satisfied customers. There was absolutely no problem with using the Tastecard and we were made to feel as welcome as those paying the full price.
