" This pub always offers a warm welcome to both stranger and regular alike, usually behind the bar is Landlady 'Nat'.. who put you at your ease straight away. Although not a large place their are 2 rooms the front one which leads straight from the street and the back room which apart from being accsesable from the front room can also be entered from the covered alley way at the side of the pub. Once inside the Berkley it fashions a rustic theme, with heavy wooden table and chairs, The shelves hold secondhand books that .you are more than welcome to pass 1 or 2 hrs away whilst partaking in a glass of on tap beer or a glass of red,,,,
The food is always freshly cooked and ranges from basket meals at a steal of £4.00 through to beautifully cooked fish and chips ,...and do try to leave room for a yummy pudding with choices of bread and butter...chocolate sponge with chocolate sauce finished off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream...(diet starts tomorrow!!)
But the pie>ce de resistance is the Sunday roast...easily the best in Tewkesbury , with a choice of Pork, Beef or Lamb on most weeks, served up on hot plates with crispy roast potatoes and a large home made Yorkshire pudding for every type of meat, 3or 4 different types of vegetables brought to the table along with a gravy boat filled to the top with lashings of dark rich smooth gravy... it is no wonder that word has spread and booking is now imperative.
