Circo launches ‘1770’
Roll up! Roll up! Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. The amazing and spectacular Circo is proud to announce its brand new restaurant venture, 1770, which will launch on 14 August 2013. Building on its already successful circus themed venue based at the city’s historical Albert Dock, 1770 will mark a new direction for the restaurant arm of Circo.
With Circo having already established itself as the most unique dining and drinking experience in the North West, and output at an all-time high with the development of new content based Freakshows and expansion of live weekly circus performances, 1770 will capture the essence of circus life and take customers back to the year when it all began…
The year 1770 marks the beginning of the first circus performance as we know it in today’s culture. Created in England by Philip Astley, the father of the modern circus, this was the year he added acrobats, juggling, tumbling, feats of strength and agility and rope-dancing to his already established equestrian displays. And with the addition of a relatively new character – the clown – to fill the pauses between the acts, the modern circus was born.
In a fitting tribute to Philip Astley, 1770 will further celebrate the essence of everything there is to do with their beloved industry, capturing the magic, excitement, tradition and fun of the circus.
General Manager, John Dixon comments: “With the Circo brand already going from strength to strength, 1770 will give us a great platform to build upon our current success. Our specialist venue provides the ultimate circus experience and we’re looking forward to the forthcoming synergy between 1770 and Circo Bar and Café Bar".
