Found on Bargates in the Christchurch area of Dorset, just a stone’s throw away from the River Avon, Blushh is a fabulous restaurant and lounge bar that makes for an excellent setting from which to catch up with the nearest and dearest.
People come for the fantastic drinks selection but they stay for the sumptuous food, which is locally sourced where possible and is available to tastecard members at a superb discount when they call in advance with their card.
Acting as wonderful sharers as part of a tapas style meal, or as exquisite starters in a gluttonous two or three course feast are the nibbles, where the glorious salt and pepper tempura calamari sits in wonderful contrast to the succulent half rack of ribs, coated in a sweet Jack Daniels BBQ sauce. These can be found alongside a host of sharing platters, including a number of nacho bowls, an assortment of 20 chicken wings in a range of sauces, and a seafood platter that incorporates calamari, crispy prawns, and mini fish and chips, creating an appetiser list that promises to meet the needs of any party.
This is more than matched in a main course list that is as extensive as it is diverse and sports a host of burgers, hot dogs and pizzas that promise to satisfy all-comers. Alternative to such are an array of Great British favourites, from the scrumptious fish, chips and mushy peas to the heart-warming steak and ale pie, as well as a variety of options from further afield, such as the delicious Thai green curry and the lip-smacking peri peri chicken.
Concluding the dining experience in style are the Blushh desserts, where particularly tempting choices can be seen in the delightfully sweet sticky toffee pudding, the deliciously sharp mixed berry sundae, and the rich chocolate fondant.
A splendid sports bar as well as an exquisite eatery, Blushh is well worth a visit – be it to catch the game, or just to enjoy some mouth-watering fare.
