Thought I would give it a try .
So glad I did.
Despite its name, City of Paris in Bethnal Green serves up some of the finest Indian Halal meats in the capital.
It’s a good job that the airy restaurant is spacious, since it is a highly popular dining destination for people of all ages and nationalities, from Bethnal Green and far beyond. Love and attention has gone into the décor scheme, with pristine white table clothes and crystal lanterns adorning tables to suit parties of every size, and colourful landscapes hand-painted on the walls.
The menu showcases the very finest cooking from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and beyond. The City of Paris chefs hold over two decades of experience, and proudly ensure all of the produce used in their cooking is entirely Halal, fresh and locally sourced. Distinctive chicken, duck, beef, lamb and seafood dishes are cooked with traditional Indian herbs and spices in Karahi pots, and served piping hot to enthralled punters on every night of the week.
Also on offer are firm favourites such as the mild and creamy Pasandas and Kormas, punchy Dhansaks and Jalfrezis, classic Baltis, Biryanis, vegetarian specialities, steak, and even grilled Mediterranean fare.
Regularly hosting Mendhi (henna) nights and Eid celebrations, as well as work events, wedding receptions and birthday parties for exceptionally large groups, City of Paris’ dedicated staff elicit rave reviews amongst the community. Everyone is bowled over not only by the authentic Indian cuisine, but by the outstanding level of service the staff offer too.
City of Paris is just a few minutes’ walk from Bethnal Green tube station, in a busy area surrounded by shops and bars, making it the perfect stop-off for a mid-week spice fix, or special celebration.
