Found on Minories in the East End of London, just a stone’s throw away from the likes of the Tower of London, the Old Billingsgate and the London Wall, Abbey is a fabulous bar and restaurant that makes for a delightful stop off spot amidst a day of exploration.
People come in for the fine drinks selection, but they stay for the scrumptious food, particularly when considering the superb tastecard discount offered to members who call in advance and produce their card upon arrival.
Beginning with one of the exquisite appetisers, where a flavoursome collection of aromatic lamb koftas came be found alongside a refreshing buffalo Mozzarella summer pea salad, diners can consider their palate suitably whetted for what’s to come.
Next up, the mouth-watering main courses on show leave very little to be desired, with a host of sumptuous dishes available for all that care to partake. Particularly enticing examples of such can be seen in the quintessentially British beer battered haddock, chips and mushy pea combo, the succulent 28-day-aged 8oz ribeye steak, which comes complete with chips and a peppercorn sauce, and the gratifying cherry tomato and red onion tart, accompanied by fried capers and a dressed green salad.
Considering the wonderful savings, visitors are encouraged to conclude the meal in style with one of the divine desserts, such as the rich and sweet chocolate brownie and the enchanting New York Cheesecake, before dipping into the pocket in the enjoyment of a tipple or two from the extensive drinks list. A fantastic destination for both a casual evening out or for a celebration, Abbey offers a warm welcome to all.
