I visited this restaurant last night (Sat) with my wife around 7pm. The restaurant was fairly quiet but homely, very well designed and lit and very appealing on the 1st floor of the hotel. There was a large Christmas function going on next door which was fairly noisy, but that's fine - nice to hear people enjoying themselves.
We both had a Thai Curry; as a vegetarian, I had the tofu one, and my wife had the chicken one; we had our curries with jasmine rice. Wow!!!! Sooooo fresh & delicious!!! We were extremely impressed and they had a nice amount of heat from the chillis.
The only one complaint were the desserts. This is where it went wrong. Some catering person decided to buy in extremely cheap deserts and as a result, ruin the dining experience! Believe me, I've eaten a good few Apple Tarte Tatin's in my time, but they've never looked & tasted like some kind of Iceland Apple Pie slice!! Also, the Chocolate Fudge Cake was equally inedible; dry chocolate cake with a bit of fudge-like icing. Such a shame.
All in all, we were so happy the the mains, that we would very happily return and have a starter and mains instead. Above all, I must say that the staff are EXCELLENT. We were greeted and shown our table very warmly; our oriental (Thai?) waitress was extremely pleasant and helpful; and the restaurant manager Steve who very understandingly and satisfactorily resolved our issue with the desserts was also first class.
Steve, you run an excellent team there, and you've obviously got some great chefs; 2 freshly-made in-house desserts and some mochi, and you've got it made.
