We had not been to the Red Lion for some time but heard it had changed hands last December so decided to go for a meal. I had not used my tastecard & noted that Red Lion had just joined so that was another incentive. We were not disappointed. We arrived at 5.30pm on Tuesday so it was quiet.
I cannot comment on atmosphere as we were the only diners at that time. The waitress was welcoming & very helpful & patient as we took a while choosing from the tempting dishes on the menu. We both decided to order the 10 oz Porter House Steak at £17.50 (which with the tastecard 2 for 1 was very good value)
we were not disappointed. The steak was delicious & cooked to our liking, mine medium & my husband's medium rare. The meal was well presented with grilled tomato, a large flat mushroom with garlic butter & chips -I chose baked potato. The side vegetables were carrots & red cabbage, both very tasty. All meals are prepared & cooked while you wait with locally sourced ingredients. Perfect. What more could you ask for? We will certainly be going again & telling our friends. On request the waitress printed off the menus for us to show our family & friends. I think our sons will be visiting to try the Desperate Dan Cow Pie! They have special nights. Wednesday is Spice Night & Thursday is Pie Night in addition to the regular menu. Bar snacks are also served lunchtimes & evenings. Thank you Red Lion. We will be back! "
