We stayed in a self catering apartment around the corner from the hotel and used to walk past it on way into town. After a tough walk in the hills we decided to try the restaurant out. It accepted tastecard and we were feeling lazy after the hike.

I am normally a little dubious of hotel food but the meal last night was a treat. Nice table near window overlooking (in distance) Lake Windermere. Real linen tablecloth and napkins.

Attentive Maitre’d door. Pate and the smoked salmon starter recommended. I had a well presented tasty rump steak and chips. The Normandy pork medallions were thin strips and a little dry.

The English of some of the waiting staff wasn't great but we managed.

Ice cream and fruit salad to finish. With a Pint of Stella and bottle of Rioja (special price £14.95) and using the tastecard total price was only £49.95 (service extra). Not bad for 3 course meal. "
