2 for 1 at The Brasserie at Melville Castle

Melville Castle nestles amongst 54 acres of woodland and parkland on the banks of the river Esk just a stone’s throw from the city bypass and only 6 miles from Edinburgh city centre. The handsome 18th century restored castle is conveniently located and a great place to visit when exploring Edinburgh or the Lothians.

The Brasserie Restaurant and Cellar Bar, complete with crackling log fire, are situated in the cellars of the castle creating a relaxed and cosy dining atmosphere within the barrel vaults. The menu consists of good value, traditional Scottish favourites with a modern twist, cooked to a deliciously high standard and perfectly complimenting the surroundings.

Menu favourites include starters such as: corn fed chicken terrine or portmahomack pork trio with black pudding, crispy smoked bacon & bean casserole. Locally sourced, seasonal ingredients go into creating mains such as: braised “Black Isle” beef with mash and roasted vegetables or baked pittenweem smoked haddock with cheddar rarebit, creamed potato & leeks.

Bedrooms are available, so why not make a trip of it and stay over in one of their 32 classically furnished bedrooms?

Great food alongside top quality service in a warm and welcoming atmosphere guarantees a great dining experience at The Brasserie restaurant and Cellar Bar at Melville Castle.

We were the only customers for lunch. No staff were present when we arrived even tho' we had booked a table. There were then 2 members of staff and 2 of us eating. It felt like they were waiting for us to leave. The food was delicious so it was still worth a visit. It's a shame that more people don't know about it. :-) "
