Authentic Indian cuisine with a strong focus on seafood is the order of the day at the lovely Maisha Restaurant. Located in the historic Scottish city of St Andrew’s, home to the world famous golf course and St Andrew’s University, Maisha Restaurant is well deserved of its excellent reputation. The restaurant’s aim to produce high quality Indian food and a service like no other is clearly evident and the team’s passion for the business is the main reason for its success.

The menu spans the various regions of India, offering both classic and contemporary dishes to sample, all made using the freshest, local ingredients available and according to traditional Indian cooking methods. Fish and seafood dishes are a speciality of the house and are particularly popular amongst the more health conscious of diner. The Bengal Rupchanda is a must try - a whole white Promphec fish marinated in turmeric, garlic, ginger and green chilli paste and deep fried in bread crumbs. Other highlights include the amazing crab bhuna, developed by owner Mohi’s wife Mahfuza. As for meat, the chef’s special curry is delicious, made with chicken or lamb marinated in a delicious medium spiced sauce whilst the Scottish lamb’s liver bhuna gives a big nod to the restaurant’s Scottish roots.

Maisha Restaurant boasts a beautiful location within a pretty stone cottage. The front patio offers a smattering of seating for al fresco dining on warmer days with pretty baskets of flowers hanging from above. Inside, an attractive dining room is found, offering a cosy ambience for a meal.

Travelling from Dundee, this was my first visit to Maisha but definitely not the last. The decor is a bit fussy for my liking, but the restaurant is clean and the staff efficient and friendly.

As I said to the manager, I've had Butter Chicken before, but never as tasty as this. Along with the lemon fried rice, I was more than satisfied with my meal, and of course delighted with the discount. Thank you, Maisha, and thank you tastecard! "
