Set on a hill on five acres of land, in the heart of the Shropshire countryside, Abel’s Harp is a hidden gem. Whether you’re stopping by for a romantic weekend escape or looking to round off a spectacular day of hiking with an indulgent meal, the boutique hotel and restaurant is the perfect haven.
Offering outstanding views of the Shropshire countryside, and all of the quirk and charm of a mad hatter’s tea party, Abel’s Harp offers an unforgettable experience, and is an extremely popular wedding venue. The owners have lovingly decorated every nook and cranny of the five bedroom hotel with vintage furniture and ornaments, lending the abode an ethereal beauty. Cosy leather sofas surround a traditional fireplace where dogs are welcome to lie and warm themselves. Reclaimed furniture has been painted in uplifting pastel shades and the restaurant’s delicious food is served on an eclectic selection of chinaware and vintage crockery.
Abel’s Harp is open for lunch, afternoon tea, and on evenings between 6:30pm and 9pm, when the kitchen cooks up a sophisticated selection of British classics, each with a refined, modern twist. All of the evening meals are made from the finest locally sourced ingredients. For starters, diners can choose the Crab Stack, with Bloody Mary mayonnaise and parmesan crisp, or the devilled lamb’s kidneys with mushrooms on chargrilled sourdough toast. Main course options include ribeye steak with Parisian chips, French beans and tomato salad, or melt In the mouth seabass with herb crushed new potatoes, air dried tomatoes and olives. For vegetarians, there’s also the beetroot risotto with toasted goat’s cheese and pea shoots.
The dessert menu is available all day, and is utterly irresistible: Sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch, winter berry Eton mess and chocolate brownie with clotted cream are the sure-fire pleasers.
To round off of the unique dining experience Abel’s Harp offers, you and your friends, family or loved one can take a stroll around the newly opened vintage shop that sits within the hotel, sun yourself in the beautiful al fresco area.
Please Note: this tastecard deal is only available on Abel’s Harp’s evening à la carte food menu. The restaurant can get extremely busy so booking in advance is essential for tastecard holders.
