Nestled inside the Eight Acres Hotel & Leisure Club in Elgin, Darroch Restaurant offers its guests an unforgettable day or evening of Scottish fine dining. The restaurant interior is fresh and modern, with charming tartan touches, and sublime views over the hotel’s scenic gardens and private woodland. Despite serving sophisticated, supreme quality cuisine, the friendly and welcoming staff at Darroch care deeply for customer comfort, and therefore operate a ‘come as you are’ dress policy. The casual air paired with the location makes Darroch a sublimely relaxing retreat from everyday reality. Some diners may even be lucky enough to spot wildlife such as hares, red squirrels and birds through the windows.
The highly-accomplished head chef Stuart Aitken was recently a finalist in the Grampian Chef of the Year Awards. With his extensive experience and fine-tuned attention to detail, Stuart and his team bring a stylish, modern touch to the traditional menu. Due to the emphasis he places on sourcing the freshest local and regional ingredients, Stuart’s à la carte offering changes seasonally, but expect to feast on succulent steaks, tender lamb and venison, seared duck breast and all manner of seafood, presented in a stunningly unique manner.
The dessert menu also boasts mouth-watering fare, with standout sweets being the mulled pear served with blueberry coulis and crème freche, and the sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. To round it all off, guests are encouraged to sample some of Darroch restaurants finest Scottish whiskeys, either on the rocks, or in an expertly-made coffee.
If you want to immerse yourself in the Scottish experience even more, Darroch Restaurant lies one and a half miles from both Elgin Museum and Elgin Cathedral. Alternatively, you could simply burn off your meal with a stroll through the beautiful hotel grounds.
