The passionate team behind the Swift Restaurant in Carrickfergus, Belfast have one aim: to deliver a unique and refined Irish dining experience to all of their guests, using the finest locally sourced food.
Situated on Carrickfergus Harbour, with superb views of the sea, the castle and Belfast Lough beyond, the Swift Restaurant is a modern and chic escape from busy Belfast. During the day, the floor to ceiling windows give way to plenty of natural light, and there’s a lovely al fresco terrace guests can dine on. Come nightfall, there’s a rustic ambience, complimented by top-quality, friendly service from the experienced staff.
The menu offers the best produce from Ireland’s land and sea: traditional fare with contemporary twists and plenty of international influences. For starters, diners can choose from a plethora of tasty and fresh seafood, such as prawn and monkfish scampi and steamed mussels with chilli, garlic and cider. Those who can’t quite decide can opt for the impressive seafood platter, featuring an array of seasonal fresh and cured fish.
Main courses range from maple and Irish whiskey cured salmon with pumpkin puree, to Moroccan spiced lamb shank with mint and orange couscous and goat’s cheese ratatouille. For those stopping by for a lunch, there’s plenty of offer such as BBQ pulled pork slider with mustard mayonnaise and pickle salad.
Then comes the desserts: there’s traditional apple crumble, topped with walnut granola and honeycomb ice cream, or the zesty and palette-cleansing potted lemon meringue with curd, vanilla cream and citrus foam, as well as an Irish cheeseboard, served with chutney and pickle, and perfect with a glass of their house red.
All of this, plus a stellar cocktail and wine menu, and even a range of The Swift’s own homebrewed drinks, make the restaurant well worth the half-hour drive from Belfast.
