Mercure is incredibly central, and this is really one of its only redeeming factors.
The restaurant looks tired, as your first impression. It could sorely do with an update to its out-of-date decorations.
We ordered drinks, my husband appletizer and I asked if there was san pellegrino, to which we got affirmatives, but we were brought off brand drinks. I don't mind if they don't have brands, but I would have ordered differently had I known.
We waited a long time to order food, and once it came I was also disappointed. My curry wasn't much better than a supermarket microwave meal, and though the poppadoms were tasty, I think I could also buy them in the crisp isle. Barely worth the price even with the taste card, nevermind without.
Service was also disappointing and the bathrooms were needing a good bleach. Disappointed about much of our visit.
