Bodrum in Southsea, Portsmouth offers a very special Mediterranean dining experience. Run by a close family of natives, the friendly, rustic eatery has been cooking up a traditional blend of Turkish and Greek cuisine for regulars old and new for over half a decade. Open until midnight all seven days of the week, the restaurant is the perfect place to refuel after a few drinks with friends, or for a special, intimate dinner date.
The highly-experienced chef Kazim and his wife and children, who all work together to run Bodrum, take great pride in preparing their menu with the highest quality locally sourced ingredients. In fact, they are so passionate about bringing a taste of Turkey to the South of England that every guest is given complimentary olives, bread and sauce to warm their appetites, and free Turkish or English tea, coffee and sweets after their dining experience!
For starters, diners can expect to indulge in mezes, seafood sharing boards, tasty calamari and the ever-popular Borek: a pastry that originated in the Ottoman empire, willed with feta cheese, spinach and herbs. Main courses include the finest quality lamb, chicken, seafood and vegetable kebabs, as well as the seriously indulgent Baba Ganoush. Not to be sniffed at is Bodrum’s Specials menu, currently featuring dishes such as the delectable Kavurma: lean, diced lamb braised with vegetables, onion and chickpeas, infused with chillies and herbs and served in a rich tomato sauce with rice and yogurt.
Desserts span from Mediterranean fare to more contemporary offerings from other parts of Europe: there’s baklava, tiramisu, cheesecake, icecream, traditional tel kadayifi pastries and revani, otherwise known as basbousa – a Middle-eastern sweet cake, made with semolina.
Regardless of what you choose to try, it’s guaranteed that the authentic mix of herbs, spices and zest will transport you straight to the beautiful stretch of Turkish coast that the restaurant is named after.
Please Note: This tastecard offer is only available on Bodrum’s dine-in, a la carte food menu.
