Located in the entrance to the market place, The Chequers Inn boasts a famous neighbour in the Chipping Norton Theatre, whose annual pantomime brings in crowds from all over the country. Ideal for a pre-performance dinner or simply a meal out in the town, this delightful pub restaurant has got it spot on with its well devised British menu.
The chef and his team at The Chequers Inn offer a very well-thought out menu taking inspiration from local produce and which changes according to the seasons. Combining British and European recipes, the menu is a display of culinary creativity, leaving every diner more than satisfied with their meal. Starters include a wonderful warm salad of confit duck leg with black pudding and roasted red pepper dressing or devilled lambs kidneys with Cotswold Crunch crusty bread whilst main course options feature braised shoulder of lamb with horseradish potato puree, haricot bean cassoulet and rich braising juices or honey and coder roast ham served with two Banford eggs and hand cut chips. Classic Eton mess with summer berries and homemade meringue is just one of the mouth-watering desserts on offer to round off a meal perfectly.
Formerly the old courtyard and now a covered conservatory, the restaurant is a bright and airy room. Beautiful stone walls reflect the building’s age whilst vintage style wooden tables and chairs are bang on trend.
