For a taste of the heavenly and exotic, head no further than central Glasgow’s Dragon-i: a unique Asian fusion restaurant which offers something very different from the norm.
The highly innovative chefs fuse traditional Asian cooking with contemporary European ingredients and vice versa, and blur the conventions of savoury, sweet and spicy, by blending all of these tastes together in their beautifully presented dishes.
To prepare your taste buds for the unforgettable contemporary Asian dining experience that is about to commence, choose from a wide selection of otherworldly appetisers: highly recommended is the Che Ci Gai: fresh mango and mozzarella wrapped in sliced chicken breast, served in a fruity sauce, and the Hong Bun Bar: light, crispy tiger prawns drizzled with champagne sauce and served with strawberries. For those who would like to stick to their firm favourite, there’s also Chi Guen: fried crispy pancakes filled with sautéed vegetables and served with a zesty plum sauce.
Main courses scream ‘Thai with a twist'. Their Thai Gai - light and crispy battered chicken breast served with apples, pineapple and a lemongrass and chilli sauce – blends elements of Japanese katsu curry with aromatic Thai ingredients. There is also a satisfying selection of noodles available, such as spicy peanut infused, wok fried udon noodles, plenty of vegetarian dishes, and a special wheat-free menu for those with intolerances.
The desserts are irresistible, and even those who don’t normally opt for something sweet will be tempted to steal a try of everyone else’s. Dragon-i’s lychee crème brulee is topped with a succulent liqueur which will leave you desperate to try something from the extensive cocktail menu. The Chi Ci Beng is a truly unique Asian take on the nation’s favourite: lime and lemongrass flavoured cheesecake served with a berry compote, and the tempura banana, served hot and crispy, comes with ice cream and syrup.
Ideally located close to Glasgow’s major attractions and shops, and right next to Theatre Royal, there’s no better location to enjoy a delectable and very special meal.
