Set in a centuries old coaching inn, The White Horse in Bristol is as historic as it is delightful. The gastro-pub can be found in the Westbury on Trym area of the city and is a fantastic supporter of the local community, sourcing only the best quality produce from local farmers. The setting epitomises relaxation and comfort.
The second-to-none interior of The White Horse is more than matched by their head chef Nigel Bisset, who has recently been awarded an AA Rosette for his culinary excellence. Taking a look at his menu, it's not hard to see why, with an extensively diverse offering that promises to have everybody salivating at the mere thought of that first fork-full. The choice is far from simple, with starters ranging from a crispy Gressingham duck salad to a creamy bowl of steamed river mussels, and mains that include a sirloin steak, spinach, feta and pistachio nut roulade, and traditional fish and chips.
Then comes an array desserts sure to have anybody finding that extra little bit of space, where a gloriously delectable white and dark chocolate terrine is accompanied by a sticky toffee pudding in butterscotch sauce that is the very definition of sweet – and where, of course, the traditional is to be found.
The chef’s commitment to quality and originality is only one to be admired, and it’s because of this that a trip to The White Horse should definitely be added to the calendar – and with tastecard offering a 2 for 1 discount, it definitely pays to bring a friend!
