One of the most famous restaurants in Glasgow city centre, the AA Rosette holding La Bonne Auberge & Bar has been serving its Mediterranean and French inspired menu for over 40 years now. A stalwart of the Glasgow restaurant scene, La Bonne Auberge sits in a prime theatre land location, close to Glasgow’s main theatres such as the Theatre Royal, King’s Theatre and the Pavilion Theatre as well as Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall, making it a top choice for those hitting on of the shows.
Executive Head Chef Gerry Sharkey and his team have devised a tantalising menu which is updated regularly according to the seasons. Taking inspiration from France and the Med, La Bonne Auberge’s menu dishes up some wonderful flavours and dishes such as the chicken liver parfait starter served with a red onion compote and toasted brioche followed by the restaurant’s famous steak haché with a Brandy and peppercorn sauce and skinny fries (the restaurant is a member of the Scottish beef club so the quality is guaranteed). Other highlights include the fillet of sole wrapped in pancetta with spinach, peas, broad beans and chicken jus or the loin of venison with cauliflower puree, spiced plums and chocolate sauce.
Following a refurbishment a couple of years back, La Bonne Auberge boasts a contemporary brasserie style dining room. Red banquettes and chairs with touches of Royal blue sit opposite solid wood tables whilst beautiful chandelier lighting hangs from the ceiling above. Rare works of art by Glaswegian artist George Wylie adorn the walls, providing a nod to the La Bonne Auberge’s home city.
