Notting Hill’s finest Fish and Chip shop Geales has been serving some of the most delicious golden battered fish to west London’s locals and celebrity elite for over 70 years.
Steeped in history, Geales opened its doors 1939, and this historic London culinary gem is now the oldest Fish and Chip shop in Notting Hill. The institution is a must-visit for visitors and Londoners alike, and has welcomed everyone from Elton John to the Beckham family, as well as tourists from around the world. Luxury hotels group Sanctum bought and revived Geales in 2007. London’s talented Mark Fuller and Andy Taylor (who launched the legendary Atlantic and Embassy clubs) revamped the restaurant and opened a sister restaurant in nearby Chelsea.
Nestled behind the Notting Hill Gate, you can experience the UK’s popular dishes in luxurious surroundings, washed down with an alcoholic tipple or cocktails from the fish and chip shop’s infamous Champagne Bar.
Geales signature dish, the traditional Beer battered Cod and Chips, from locally sustainable sources is a stalwart favourite. Outside from that, the melt in your mouth Prawn Cocktail, or the juicy Steak and Ale pie, packed full of comforting goodness, are the Geales stand out hidden secrets.
