Opened by local lass Rachell Whitehead, Pixies Diner in Middlesbrough brings an authentic slice of America to the table. Pixies Diner is a charming retro American diner with a strong 1950’s theme. A large Wurlitzer jukebox plays classic songs from the decade whilst the menu dishes up a wide range of American dishes to enjoy.
Whitehead hasn’t missed a trick when it comes to the menu, an exciting array of American inspired dishes with something for everyone. Open for breakfast, diners can choose to keep things on home turf with a proper English breakfast or enjoy a taste of the USA with a dish of pancakes topped with bacon and maple syrup. Lunches and dinners provide a wealth of choice from tasty hot dogs, burgers and burritos to nachos, ribs and chimichangas. The special Pixie Platter is great for sharing with chicken wings, homemade onion rings, stuffed jalapenos, dips, Pixie chilli and chips enough to keep everyone going. As for the drinks, the milkshakes are the star with some pretty fine options, all made to order.
Retro is the key word in the dining room, with traditional American diner interiors. Colourful leather banquettes and booths and neon lights create the vibe whilst staff are dressed in polka dot fifties style outfits to keep in with the theme.
Those with healthy appetites might want to try the Man versus Food style challenge where a mention on the hall of fame along with a special T-shirt is awarded to anyone who can manage the mountain of food presented to them.
