Having dreamt of owning his own Indian restaurant in Edinburgh for over 20 years, Spice Lounge Kitchen’s affable owner Jas finally made his dreams a reality when he opened the restaurant a couple of years back. Located west of the city centre and of Edinburgh Castle, The Spice Lounge Kitchen dishes up an exciting Indian cuisine as well as Indian tapas and Indian fusion dishes. Just a short walk from Murrayfield Stadium, home to Scottish rugby, the restaurant is a popular choice for local Indian food fans.
A collection of traditional and contemporary Indian dishes are served at The Spice Lounge Kitchen with a few European dishes thrown into the mix for those who prefer. There are some pretty delicious regional dishes that are well worth sampling such as the famous Calcutta dish of haddock with green chillies, mustard seeds and a lemon gravy or the Delhi favourite of whole leg of spiced lamb cooked in the tandoor oven and served with curry sauce and naan bread. International dishes are also available, some of which have been given an Indian twist. Tuck into penne pasta with cherry tomatoes, basil and Punjabi spices or a chicken tikka pizza.
Chic fuchsia pink and grey tones create just the right balance of colours in the chic dining room, a large and spacious area where huge antique mirrors on the wall make the whole place feel even bigger. Huge copper ceiling lamps hang down over the tables and elegant pink seating and tables topped with starch white linens and gleaming glassware offer a sophisticated vibe.
