With the scenic Peak District right on its doorstep, the Derbyshire hotel is certainly the place to visit for those that love to go on sightseeing jaunts and are enthused by spectacular views. This, combined with their bar and lounge, is a sure-fire way to provide a feast for the stomach as well as the eyes. And their location couldn’t be more perfect, the South Normanton establishment is just fifteen miles away from both the Nottingham and Derby city centres, meaning that it is far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle, but it is also close enough should a shopping trip (or a bar crawl) be on the cards.
Their menu also does not disappoint, with a host of attractive dishes available from which to choose, from their rolled and roasted pork belly and black pudding combination to their beer-battered sustainable haddock. For lovers of all things poultry, the pot-roasted chicken is a fantastic option, whilst those looking for all things meat should look no further than their 227g, 28-day dry aged sirloin steak, and for the veggies, the gruyere and red onion tartlet is just one of the options.
Beforehand however, there is a starters list to dip into that is sure to meet the requirements of many a palette, consisting of an eggs benedict, a salt & pepper squid and a crostini of pan-fried field mushrooms to name a few. And for those that can find that little bit of room afterwards (and why not with the 50% off tastecard offer?), there are a few delightfully sweet options that are guaranteed to leave any diner leaving without regret, including a roasted pineapple and their signature spiced sticky toffee pudding.
Whatever the weather, the Bar and Lounge at Derbyshire hotel is well worth a visit and is the ideal setting for many a situation, be it a gathering of old friends, a family day out, or a couple looking to have a quiet, intimate meal. The warmth and comfort that the restaurant provides makes it well worth it!
