There are countless Indian restaurants in the city of Leicester, with the excellent K2 Restaurant up there with the best of them. It may be small and compact in size, but this little Indian restaurant certainly packs a punch with its authentic menu of delicious curries and the like. Located just outside of the bustling city centre of Leicester with its Cathedral and numerous shops, bars and restaurants, K2 Restaurant is just a short walk from the wide open green spaces of Abbey Park.
The restaurant serves a wide and varied Indian menu with particular focus on the cuisine of the Kashmiri area. There are plenty of old classics to tuck into, keeping old school Indian food fans more than happy, but K2 also dishes up some exciting regional dishes to sample too. The chicken tawa is a house favourite, cooked in the traditional tawa pan, it is a medium strength curry topped with fried brown onions. Other highlights include the tangy zaika sauce cooked with green chillies and mangoes to create a sweet yet spicy flavour and served with chicken, prawns, lamb or vegetables whilst the butter chicken with butter ghee and cream is very well received. K2 Restaurant doesn’t serve alcohol but diners are invited to bring their own bottle for a small £1.50 corkage fee.
Modern finishes and furnishings feature in the K2 Restaurant’s dining room where tall leather seats, smart black table linens and funky patterned wallpaper create a contemporary style. Tones of black, cream and gold are a step away from the usual red tones of many curry houses.
