Offering an authentic Indian dining experience, the lovely Taste of India restaurant couldn’t be more appropriately named. Housed in the Kentish town of Beckenham on the fringes of south east London, the Taste of India restaurant is a popular choice amongst local Indian food fans, offering a traditional setting and a menu filled with both classic and contemporary dishes from all over India. Perched close to Beckenham Rugby Club, the restaurant is a top choice for rugby players and their friends and family after a game or a training session. Elmers End train station is also just a short walk away, making Taste of India one of the first restaurants many people see when stepping off the train.
There are plenty of old favourites featuring on the Taste of India menu, from creamy chicken kormas to hot and spicy vindaloos but for those a little more adventurous, there are some superb regional dishes to sample at the restaurant too. The duck masala is always a winner, cooked in a medium spiced masala sauce with yoghurt and cream to thicken whilst the tandoori fish which has been barbecued with onions, tomatoes and capsicum is a delight. The Taste of India special masala is another dish that comes highly recommended by the kitchen consisting of a specially baked whole baby chicken cooked in the chef’s own special recipe.
Fully licensed, diners are offered a great choice of drinks at Taste of India including some superb Indian beers and a variety of wines from around the world. The dining room is traditional in style with terracotta tones and crisp white linens atop the tables. As with most good Indian restaurants, service at Taste of India is excellent with staff warm and friendly yet very professional at the same time.
