The brilliantly named Scooby Brew Café in Bangor is the town’s very first pet friendly café, welcoming owners and their four legged friends to enjoy a coffee and bite to eat seven days a week. Formerly known as The Curious Cat, current owner Alistair McMullan took over the reins in 2015 and decided to move from felines to canines with his dog friendly café. Just a short walk from Bangor Abbey and Bangor train station, this lovely little eatery is actually a really good family-run bistro, serving a fine range of home cooked dishes in warm and friendly surroundings.
Aside from the fantastic homemade dog biscuits for all those pampered pooches, the Scooby Brew Café menu offers up some tasty home cooked treats. Tuck into a delicious pot of spiced Cajun chicken and potato topped with melted cheese served with a fresh salad on the side or enjoy a rather tempting taco mince filled panini with homemade coleslaw and spiced potato chunks. Homemade lasagne, spiced parsnip soup, hot Irish stew and chicken and bacon hot pots are all superb and the hot breakfasts draw in the crowds in the mornings.
Scooby Brew is a compact little eatery offering a homely vibe with pretty checked tablecloths and a warm terracotta colour scheme. The staff are really friendly and the place has a real family vibe to it. Open until 9pm on Fridays and serving every day of the week, the Scooby Brew Café is a great option in Bangor for a home cooked bite to eat.
