Found on Bayley Lane, just around the corner from the hustle and bustle of Coventry’s High Street, Bayley Lane is the premier kitchen and cocktail bar in the city. The chic and modern dining room provides a timeless space for socialising and live conversation, where the tantalising aroma of their food takes centre stage and serves to gratify each of the senses. This is combined with a wonderful service level to create a dining experience that is unparalleled.
The ethos of the kitchen can be seen in a menu that is jam-packed with delectable fare that is created in an uncomplicated yet enchanting fashion using only the best in locally sourced ingredients. From a succulent eight-ounce rib eye steak to a mouth-watering pan-fried sea bass, the main courses are as diverse as they are delicious; and in the barley and squash salad, and the vegetarian burger, there are two fantastic options for those with a more herbivorous inclination.
Speaking of burgers, the choices at Bayley Lane come in three sizes; the Bayley Lane burger is the standard, whilst the Baby Bayley Lane burger and the Big Bayley lane burger are there for those with a little or a large appetite. Each come complete with Applewood cheese, baby gem lettuce and tomato – amongst other ingredients.
As for those that simply can’t choose one dish (or who just like to share), there are a number of small platters available to make up the sharers board. These include, but are certainly not limited to, skin-on-fries, marinated anchovies, jalapeño poppers, spiced duck rolls and balsamic onions; whilst the cured meat selection is perfect for those looking for a lighter bite.
These are to be sandwiched by a delightful starters list and a dessert menu that is to die for. Goats cheese pithivier and chicken and ham hock pave accompany the expected soup of the day to offer a wonderful set of appetisers that present a fabulous palate warmer, while the apple and blackberry crumble is perfectly contrasted by a sticky toffee pudding in a sweet assortment that will have any diner searching for that extra bit of room in their stomach.
Alongside a charming interior and a glorious food offering, Bayley Lane can boast a surrounding area that’s well worth a visit. With the Lady Godiva statue, the Cathedral ruins, the Holy Trinity church and the Cathedral Lanes shopping centre just a hop, skip and a jump away, Bayley Lane is there for those looking for a bit of respite post exploration or after a spot of retail therapy.
