“Step into the magical world of Count Dracula” is how this exciting and unique Leicester restaurant introduces itself. Step into the world of delicious homemade Romanian and Eastern European cuisine is a better description although probably not quite as exciting. Transilvania is a great little eatery located close to the city centre of Leicester, just across the street from Bede Park and around the corner from the De Montfort University Campus. Popular amongst the area’s Eastern European residents and a cuisine just waiting to be discovered by everyone else, Transilvania is a real gem of a restaurant.
The menu dishes up some classic dishes from the Eastern countries of Europe with particular emphasis on Romania. Tuck into a typical Transilvania Bulz polenta cake with cottage cheese and bacon or the Tochitura Moldovanese with pork, sausage, egg and polenta cake and a side of pickles. The tripe beef soup is a warming dish on colder days while the classic Vienna schnitzel is always a popular dish. Whether looking for a hearty dish or a light bite, there is something for everyone to try at the Transilvania restaurant.
Spread over two floors, the restaurant is perched on the corner of the street and offers simple interiors of fresh white walls and blind wood furnishings. Tables are draped with linens in the colours of Romania, adding a touch of tradition to proceedings.
A great little eatery serving original and authentic dishes from Romania and its surrounding neighbours, Transilvania is just waiting to be discovered.
