Authentic Nepalese food has arrived to the tables of Fleet in Hampshire with the excellent Gurkha Square Restaurant. Found in the heart of the town, close to Calthorpe Park and the Hart Shopping Centre, The Gurkha Square Restaurant may be small in size but it more than makes up for this with its fantastic menu. All meat on the Gurkha Square menu is 100% halal, making the restaurant accessible to more of the local community.
The menu takes diners on a culinary tour of the small country of Nepal, offering an insight into the true taste and flavours of Nepalese cooking. The house specials are well worth taking a look at as there are some pretty impressive recipes to sample. The Phewa Macha is a delightful dish of pan fired monkfish cooked with chilli, garlic and a fresh onion sauce whilst the Pokhreli Khasi is a tasty grilled lamb dish with a mild, lightly spiced sauce. The seafood dishes are superb such as the king prawns cooked in the chef’s special sauce of tomatoes and spices whilst the chicken and mango dish from western Nepal is wonderfully exotic and one of the most popular dishes.
The dining room at The Gurkha Square Restaurant is a simple affair with neutral walls and white linen topped tables, leaving the food to do all the talking. Traditional Nepalese artefacts and images adorn the walls. As for the service, the staff offer a professional and friendly manner and are happy to help make recommendations from the menu.
