Formerly known as The Noodle Bar, the recently opened Kura Kura Bar & Restaurant sits in the heart of Loughborough and is a cool and contemporary dining room. Serving a brilliant menu of Asian cuisine, this fantastic canteen-like eatery has created plenty of excitement amongst local folk thanks to the quality of the food and the very affordable prices. Perched between Queen’s Park and Southfields Park in the centre of town, it is a popular dining location for the town’s large sporting student population thanks to its well-priced dishes and healthy Asian recipes.
The menu meanders its way through Asia, taking in Japan, China, Indonesia and Thailand on its way. Kick start a meal with a mouth-watering miso soup with tofu and watame seaweed or a plate of tempting Indonesian spring rolls whilst the crispy aromatic duck is shredded at the table and served with pancakes, spring onions and a red miso sauce. As for the main courses, the monkfish curry with fennel and green beans is simply filled with flavour whilst a huge plate of fried rice with smoked chicken, spring onions, pickled cucumber, tomatoes and black hijiki seaweed is a real surprise.
A combination of communal benches and tables for two or groups of four fill the dining space at Kura Kura and there is even a traditional Japanese dining area with low tables, cushions and tatami matting.
Kura Kura Bar & Restaurant is a superb little spot for a bite to eat in Loughborough and has already created quite a buzz amongst locals since its opening.
