The Dining Room is a fabulous 2 AA Rosette restaurant situated within the lovely Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel in the heart of the spectacular Lake District. Located in the picturesque village of Bowness on Windermere, the hotel is set within six acres of landscaped gardens and affords the most incredible views over the countryside and lakes beyond. Formerly the home of legendary children’s author Beatrix Potter, the Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel is a fine establishment indeed.
Reflecting its spectacular location, The Dining Room certainly lives up to expectations with a stellar menu of creative modern British cuisine. All ingredients are locally sourced, including some grown in the restaurant’s very own greenhouse, and all are seasonal, meaning that menus change on a regular basis.
Sample starters include a light and delicious English asparagus and goat’s cheese panna cotta with a soft hen’s egg followed by main courses such as poach roasted Cumbrian chicken supreme with fondant potato, pancetta and a wild cep, mushroom and thyme sauce or a salty chamber aged 250g rib eye steak with a green peppercorn and cognac sauce, hand cut chips and a grill garnish.
The huge windows of The Dining Room overlook the hotel’s sweeping green gardens whilst elegant furnishings and beautifully presented tables create the perfect fine dining environment. Service is first class, as it should be at an establishment of this calibre.
