A charming little establishment in the scenic Somerset village of Aller in Langport, The Old Pound Inn is a 16th century village pub that combines a relaxed atmosphere with a fantastic drinks selection and some exquisite fare.
Formerly known as the White Lion Public House, it was renamed The Old Pound Inn in 1980, and has since gone from strength to strength.
At the Bar at The Old Pound Inn guests are invited to enjoy all of the sumptuous food in an informal atmosphere that is perfect for conversation – something that is extended to tastecard members who are able to partake in such at a reduced rate when they call in advance. Beginning with one of the delicious appetisers, which include a scrumptious deep fried brie and cranberry compote combo and a fine selection of devilled white bait, with dressed leaves and a homemade tartare sauce, diners will fine their appetite suitably whetted for the delights to come.
Then come the sublime main course options, where the old Great British favourite in the breaded Whitby scampi, served with triple cooked chips and garden peas, sits alongside a succulent steak burger that is topped with Monterey cheese, tomato, lettuce and a burger sauce, in a hearty selection that promises to satisfy any craving.
The dog-friendly venue is sat just a short drive away from a number of picturesque spots, such as the Exmoor and New Forest National Parks and the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, making the Bar at The Old Pound Inn a fabulous place to enjoy a bit of respite amidst a day of exploration.
