Sister pub to The Hare and Hounds over in Northbourne, The Jolly Gardener is a great place to enjoy a meal and a drink in Kent. Nestled just a couple of streets back from Deal seafront, this delightful pub has recently been taken over by the Blueprint Pub Company and has been transformed into a brilliant drinking and dining destination in Deal. Stepping away from the usual pub fare, The Jolly Gardener serves a menu filled with authentic Italian pizzas. Thanks to this, the pub has become one of the most popular haunts in town for a casual meal and a drink.
Heading up the kitchen at The Jolly Gardener is an Italian pizza chef from Naples, who brings with him a wealth of expertise in the preparation of typical Neapolitan pizzas. The pizza dough is prepared on site daily making it as fresh as can be, and every pizza on the menu can be made into a calzone which is an extra bonus. Sample the Chef’s Pizza topped with mozzarella, ham, mushroom, cream, parsley and fresh ground peppercorns or perhaps the tasty chicken pizza with mixed peppers and rosemary as well as the habitual tomato sauce and mozzarella. The Fiorentina is great for vegetarians, topped with tomato, mozzarella, spinach, garlic, parmesan and free range eggs. Truffle chips and garlic bread provide the side.
The Jolly Gardener is a cosy pub with plenty of period character inside from feature fireplaces to lots of old brickwork. Dark wood furnishings and cosy corners provide typical pub style interiors.
