50% off at The Bar at The Olde Coach House

Just a fifteen minute drive southeast of Rugby sits the charming village of Ashby St Ledgers and the Olde Coach House: a warm and welcoming pub, award winning restaurant and fifteen-bedroomed boutique hotel.

The rustic stone walls of this pub contain a rich history. Despite nobody being sure of the exact date the inn was built, the estate which it sits on was first mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, before being passed through generations of notable historical figures. During the Victorian period, the Old Coach House served as a farmhouse owned by the Ashby St Ledgers Estate. Remnants from this era now adorn the walls of the Olde Coach House, nestled under the exposed wooden beams and positioned around the roaring log fireplaces.

Regardless of The Olde Coach House’s cosy décor and colourful heritage, it’s the food that really takes centre stage here. tastecard members can choose to dine from the AA 4 Star Dining-awarded restaurant’s tantalising menu in the restaurant-proper, or within the bar itself with 50% off of their food bill. To whet your appetite, graze over starter boards stacked with rustic breads, olives, oils and balsamic vinegar, crispy calamari or Harrisa lamb meatballs. Main courses range from the luxurious Applewood smoked duck breast served with potato gratin, caramelised carrot puree and aniseed infused jus, to excellent British steaks, burgers, hanging kebabs and handmade, stone fired pizza. Vegetarians are well catered for, with a sweet potato, avocado and cheese burger proving tempting to even the most dedicated of meat lovers.

The passionate chefs work tirelessly to ensure all of the produce they use is locally sourced. The bar and restaurant’s rare breed ‘posh pork’ and lamb produce is supplied from the local Ashby Farm, and the original Italian gelatos you can enjoy as a dessert come from the 100-year old family run Rossa ice cream makers, in Leicester.

You may associate cosy and welcoming village gastro pubs with chilly winter nights, however the Olde Coach House is perfect for summer celebrations too, with a large courtyard for al fresco wining and dining. Whether you’re looking to plan a special meal with family, or just looking for some top-quality British comfort food after a long week, The Olde Coach House’s Bar will cater to your every need and more.
