Family run and independent, The Crown in Asfordby is an enchanting pub and restaurant with a bounty of great British food.
Run by the winning duo, Robin and Christine, this traditional pub features several dining areas, one of which is the Bar, Lounge and Snug, which invites guests to relax with some good food in an informal, chilled out eatery.
Using fresh, locally sourced produce, the menu is a plethora of pub classics, along with the odd international treat. Case in point is one of the exemplary appetisers, the Antipasto board, which allows diners to select their own assortment of various finger foods, including cheese covered nachos, spiced potato wedges, marinated mixed olives and Prosciutto ham.
For the main course there are plenty of tried and tasted pub favourites, such as the monstrously sized Mixed Grill, a rich ensemble of rump steak, gammon, sausages and fried free range eggs, and the classic Hunters Chicken, yet the main star of the menu is the grilled section.
Served on an obsidian lava rock, which is heated to 320c, anything from the grill makes for a delicious and novel meal. Some of the exquisite sizzling delights include the succulent ribeye steak, available either in 8oz, 12oz or 16oz, the tender lamb steak or the enticing duck breast, all options served with homemade chips and Mediterranean vegetables and available as a delectable surf and turf meal with scampi for a little extra.
There’s also plenty for the meat averse to enjoy as well, such as the tantalising halloumi based fajitas and the scrumptious Mediterranean vegetable lasagne, meaning all appetites and dietary requirements are covered at The Crown.
