Set on the southern edge of the Shropshire Hills, the Brasserie and Terrace within the award-winning Fishmore Hall hotel offers unbeatable views of Ludlow Castle’s turrets peaking over the Shropshire Hills.
Fishmore Hall hasn’t always been as magnificent as it is today; the renovated Georgian house in Ludlow was virtually derelict until 2007. But with a fresh lick of white paint and almost a year’s hard labour, the building has now been restored to a stunning rural hideaway which surpasses its original glory.
Fishmore Hall’s Head Chef Andrew Birch has a string of awards and culinary scholarships behind him. Having manned the hob in a fair few AA-Rosette winning venues within the last decade, he’s now taken the reins of the already outstanding brasserie.
With locally sourced ingredients coming from within a three mile radius and seafood straight from the Isle of Skye and Bixham, the freshness of the Brasserie’s a la carte menu is tangible. Diners can expect comforting British classics with modern twists, such as Shropshire lamb served with seasonal vegetables, organic Scottish salmon, and flavoursome and innovative vegetarian options.
With the a la carte menu coming in at a set price for three courses, the Brasserie at Fishmore Hall Hotel is already exceptional value before the tastecard discount is applied. Starters range from Welsh wagyu steak tartare served with capers, chives and cured egg yolk, to spiced diver caught scallops and Cornish crab served with grapefruit. The dessert menu – pray you have the room for one – is similarly, if not more indulgent and just as well presented. Who could go wrong with white chocolate cheesecake with elderflower, gooseberries and champagne?
The Fishmore Hall Hotel is the perfect jumping off point for a day exploring the great outdoors, with the Brasserie an exceptional dining choice for all of those searching for a special meal afterwards.
Please Note: this tastecard discount is not available on Sundays or Monday evenings, as the a la carte menu is not served at these times.
