The pretty village of Little Stonham is situated just a couple of miles from Stowmarket and is home to The Magpie Inn, a popular local drinking and dining establishment. Situated in the heart of the village, The Magpie Inn is a beautiful Grade II listed building with a pretty pink hued frontage complimented by an array of flower filled baskets. Recently renovated, owners Malcolm and Zheng Zheng have created a great place for local villagers and visitors to the area to head to, whether for a simple drink or a full three course meal.

The Magpie Inn consists of a restaurant, lounge and sports bar, each offering its very own unique atmosphere. The sports bar and lounge provides more casual dining option for those who prefer with a tasty bar menu filled with light bites and hot meals. Sandwiches, baguettes, toasties and jacket potatoes come with a variety of fillings whilst the classic Ploughman’s is always a winner. As for hot dinners, try the slow cooked veggie casserole with new potatoes and peas or the poached salmon fillet with hollandaise sauce, potatoes and peas.

The sports bar is a popular hangout amongst those wanting to enjoy a live game on one of the many plasma TV screens accompanied by a bite to eat and a beer and the huge pool table provides extra entertainment. Over in the lounge a more laid back ambience is enjoyed where friends and family can get together and enjoy a quiet drink and a meal out together.

We found this pub while in the area of Bury St Edmunds...and what a find too.
The mixed grill was the best ever and the steaks melt in your mouth.
Put that together with a really friendly atmosphere and superb staff and you have a fantastic pub.
The Christmas Day menu might be worth travelling 80 miles!!. No I am not joking. We will certainly make a detour when next in the near vacinity.
Oop, I forgot to mention the puddings.....all the old favourites including Christmas pudding and bread pudding, plus many more.
Can you tell we loved this place?
If only we were local "
