Once a 19th century hotel, the Alexandra is now a wonderfully modern pub flying under the banner of the Nicholson’s Pubs group.
the centre of Harrogate, close to the Harrogate train station and the Victoria Shopping Centre, the Alexandra retains some of its period charm, such as the original rear stable, as well as plenty of modern touches.
Filled mostly with British cuisine, the rich menu at Alexandra features all the delights one could expect from an eatery embraced by the Nicholson’s group, including internationally inspired dishes and heavenly desserts. Some dishes have even been enhanced with some of the Nicholson’s groups favourite gins and ales, providing an extra touch of that bar element to every bite.
Those calling in advance with a tastecard can enjoy some unbeatable discounts off all the excellent food served at the Alexandra’s bar area, which offers the same menu as the more formal restaurant area. Ideal bites for the bar area are the sharing platters, which present plenty of different tastes that go brilliantly with a drink or two. The eclectic Nicholson’s Sharer features the likes of Gloucester Old Spot sausages, chilli chicken skewers and homemade onion rings, while the lighter Skinny Sharer presents delights such as gin cured smoked salmon toasties, home cooked tortilla chips and yellow pepper batons.
Those seeking a little more sustenance can expect plenty of choice in the main course menu, where pub classics such as the irresistible scampi and triple cooked chips, partnered with a samphire tartare sauce, the succulent steak frites, made with ribeye steak and paired with a fresh confit tomato, and the hearty macaroni and cheese, served with garlic bread, make for fantastic stomach fillers.
A wealth of dishes are available for all who visit Alexandra, ensuring that all walks of life will find something to enjoy.
