Hailed as the oldest recorded inn in the Somerset town of Taunton, The Vivary Arms is a character filled pub situated on the outskirts of the town, yet is also only a five-minute walk from the main shopping centre. Found just behind the wide open spaces of Vivary Park, the friendly Taunton pub boasts a convenient location and is a popular destination amongst both locals and visitors, partly thanks to the delicious homemade food served there.
It’s obvious that the team behind this Vivary Arms are passionate about serving good quality home cooked food, with a menu displaying all of the classic pub dishes, all cooked fresh, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Expect heart-warming dishes such as steak and Guinness pie or half a honey roasted duck, each coming with fresh vegetables and the diner’s choice of potato. The vegetarian options are superb too, such as the mouth-watering broccoli, blue cheese and walnut pasta bake with salad. The well-stocked bar serves up a range of local and national beers and a fine choice of global wines to accompany a meal.
Affable hosts Mark & Emma Pavey and their excellent team certainly extend a warm welcome to every guest at The Vivary Arms, and their cosy bar area is just the ticket for relaxed and informal dining. Low beamed ceilings and cosy corners create just the right vibe whilst dart boards and pool tables are available to keep the patrons well entertained.
Please note: The tastecard discount is unavailable throughout December. The tastecard discount is not available during Sunday lunchtime, as the a la carte menu is not served during this time.
