With an illustrious portfolio of awards and a menu overflowing with Modern English and internationally inspired delights, The Ambrette is a restaurant certainly worth sampling.

Netting several awards from the OpenTable Diner’s Choice 2015 award, such as Best Food, Best Service and Best Overall, diners can visit the Canterbury incarnation of The Ambrette with confidence.

Spearheaded by the founder and Head Chef, Dev Biswal, The Ambrette is a fine dining haven, sans the high life prices. The talented and passionate Head Chef Biswal has created a rich and diverse offering of delicious dishes, all of which can be enjoyed at an unbeatable price when diners call in advance with their tastecard.

Everything that is lovingly crafted in the kitchen is made using only the greatest of ingredients, with a myriad local suppliers providing the finest components of the culinary masterpieces served. A mere handful of The Ambrette’s partnerships include Rook & Sons Food in Ramsgate, M&J Seafood in London and Sweet Yesterdays in Kent.

Begin the experience with one of the sumptuous starters, including the tantalising breast of wood pigeon, partnered with game pate and a rosemary and cinnamon poached peach, and the eclectic seafaring ensemble that is the Seafood Platter, with an assortment of the days fresh catches served alongside squid ink idil and pickle rock samphite.

Continue on to the main course, where such delicacies as the succulent belly of Kentish pork, accompanied with homemade crackling and a spiced apple chutney, and the sumptuous quinoa and mushroom biryani, partnered wit chargrilled halloumi and crispy okra, sit together in perfect harmony.

With a wealth of heavenly desserts also available and the option for children under 10 to eat free, The Ambrette makes for the ideal location for any occasion, be it a fantastic family meal or a special date night.

" Fantastic restaurant. Went here for our Wedding anniversary and couldn't fault anything. The food was delicious, the best Inidian starter I've ever had and excellent value. A few taster dishes were thrown in on the house too.

The waiters were very attentive and explained the ingredients of every dish.

There was LIVE music with a pianist and a really vibrant atmosphere.

    Highly recommended "

" initial communication by phone was awkward regarding when the tastecard is accepted and what menu restrictions there are. Actually its not too hard !

    1. Every lunchtime you can have 3 courses off a particular menu for £15.95.
    2. 241 off dinner (excluding saturday)

The waiters seem overly serious so it felt a bit stern UNTIL they smiled. We went at lunchtime and it was EXTRAORDINARY. The food and presentation was brilliant. We got three exquisite courses PLUS a pre- and post- starter dish.
There is also a sense of drama as the final touches to each dish are done at the bar so you can go and watch before you eat. "
