Punjabi Lounge sits bang in the centre of Ilford, just a thirty-second walk from Ilford train station, making it the ideal spot for a delicious Indian feast any night of the week.
The cosy little restaurant and bar may cook up a more refined and simplistic menu than most curry houses in Essex, but this in no way compromises the quality of their offering. Every dish stays true to its desi roots, with Uncle Ji’s Kitchen section of the menu serving a hearty plethora of chicken kormas, bhunas, tandoori lamb and kebabs, and Aunty Ji’s section offers more authentic vegetarian dishes such as paneer curries, bhindi dishes, daals and the delicious and healthy channa masala. Starters and sides are every bit are nearly as cheap as you’d expect them to be in a traditional eatery in India, with standouts being Uncle Ji’s fiery chilli chicken and rich Seekh kebab.
Spice got too much for you? Or perhaps you’re looking to round off your meal with something sweet and creamy? Punjabi Lounge’s mango lassis, a yoghurt based drink originating from the Punjab, are a must-try for anyone who hasn’t come across Asia’s answer to a milkshake before.
With welcoming staff, a relaxed atmosphere perfect for celebrations and private functions and a well-stocked bar, Punjabi Lounge invites tastecard holders in Ilford to sample a true taste of the Punjab.
