Named so after one of the staple dishes within the eatery, the Gyoza Bar is an excellent informal Japanese restaurant that serves a concise, yet carefully crafted, menu of some of the lesser known delights from Japanese cuisine.
Everything served within Gyoza Bar is made with the freshest, locally sourced organic ingredients by talented chefs who only use traditional Japanese recipes and equipment. Diners have the option of watching the process first hand at the edge of the open kitchen, providing a wonderfully immersive dining experience.
Already a reasonably priced counterpart to the next door sister restaurant, Murakami, tastecard members can enjoy even greater prices on all the fantastic fare served when they call in advance with their card.
Best enjoyed in a tapas style feast, diners are invited to pick and choose from each section of the menu, so why not start with one of the namesake gyozas, which are traditional Japanese dumplings. Tantalising examples of these include the irresistible Ebi Dangojiru, filled with fried prawns a soy based broth, and the scrumptious vegetable gyoza, containing avocado and yuzu salsa. There’s also the option of having two of each type served in the Gyoza Moriawase, and every gyoza can either be deep fried, steamed or pan fried.
Another classic entry in the menu is the selection of ramen bowls, which are a Japanese type of noodle soup. Filling and sumptuous, some particularly delectable varieties of ramen dishes include the hearty Tempura Ramen, consisting on prawn and vegetable tempura pieces, shoyu tamago and a Japanese fish cake, and the succulent Belly Pork Ramen, mixed with stem broccoli, spring onions and beansprouts.
There’s plenty more to choose from, including some tasty desserts, ensuring that all guests can indulge in a hearty and heavenly meal at Gyoza Bar.
