The Wharf offers fantastic views of the Thames and the city of London, with particularly stunning views from the terrace and upstairs dining room.

The perfect spot for a great bite amidst a day of city exploration, The Wharf offers a fantastic meal and wonderful views.

" My friend called one morning and asked if I would like to go for an impromptu dinner: "Of course" I said "Let's meet for a walk along the South Bank," agreeing to find somewhere that might accept my Taste card.

I found The Wharf in my search - somewhere I had passed many times but never visited - and decided to give them a call. It clearly states on the terms and conditions for this restaurant on the Taste card website that you must book 24 hours in advance to get the deal but I thought there was no harm in calling to see if they would accept it.

The lady I spoke to at 2.00pm was very rude and snappy, but took my reservation and assured me that using my card would not be a problem. So, we arrived at 6.30pm on Thursday 6th April and were greeted by a male manager, who was equally as rude. He couldn't find a record of my booking that afternoon and abruptly / aggressively told me that I have to book 24 hours in advance to use my Taste card, despite me being told it was fine that afternoon. After being very dismissive and uninterested, he told me: "Fine, I'll do it for you this time." At that point I calmly explained my experience thus far with this restaurant and declined to dine there.

Something is going seriously wrong here: I rarely experience such poor service and I am still in shock; it ruined our night and was completely unnecessary and does not represent the wonderful hospitality on offer in this great city.

I eat out often and use my Taste card to try new places; when service and food is good, I often go back or recommend to friends. How is this poor customer service not being addressed by such a reputable chain? (I was told by a member of staff that The Wharf is owned by Pizza Express - perhaps she was hoping I'd make a complaint?)
The management team need taking to task at this restaurant and reminding of the fundamentals of business. Nobody should ever be spoken to like we were ... we're very polite and civilised people!

    Very disappointing. "

for everyone whom was frustrated telephoning to book prior to dining at the Wharf restaurant - the have Nobody dedicated to answer their phones.
i telephoned, left a message, no call back but i turned up anyway (expecting that someone would answer the phone booking) and when i mentioned tastecard, received blank expression from waitress.
decided to eat there anyway due to the locality of the restaurant (maybe 100 steps) food was good but took ages.
emailed them anyway and they denied having an ansaphone which i though was rude - seemed defensive about their procedure. Maybe they dont want to earn goof feedback??
however, i did contact tastecard whom confirm their is a phone problem - i did not want to appear unfair. My tastecard, therefore, at the moment is redundant.
if i venture there again, rest assured i will endeavour to leave more comments
their loss unfortunately - they used to have the best reputation ever
    kindest regards "

Went for dinner a thursday night for a girly catchup. Really cute restaurant quite simple, but prefer that over a tacky tourist pub/restaurant! Food was fine, not amazing, but perfect for a weekday meal with wine:)

Bit awkward when I asked for bill with tastecard discount. Was asked if I'd prebooked, which I guess is fine to ask, it just didn't sound super friendly... But hey, 1 awkward second for a £16 discount, that's all right! "
